A fanny pack in general is a small pouch made from fabric, worn around the waist for easy reach. A law enforcement fanny pack, on the other hand, also looks like any other fanny pack except that it has a compartment that is concealed to house a handgun, working like an alternative to shoulder, ankle, and regular waist holsters. Aside from the gun compartment, a law enforcement fanny pack also has other compartments for storing loose change, keys, and other small items.

Kinds of law enforcement fanny packs

A law enforcement fanny pack can either come with a gun compartment or a gun pouch. A fanny pack with a gun compartment usually features a detachable front pouch that conceals the compartment such that when the front pouch is pulled back, this would reveal the gun, allowing the gun to be drawn out. As for fanny packs with gun pouches, there is the advantage of drawing the gun out more easily since the handgun is always placed in a ready position.

Choosing your fanny pack

As with anything, you want your fanny pack to last a long time, giving you the best value for your money. That’s why it’s a good idea to get one made from 1200 Denier Nylon, which makes the fanny pack very durable and water-resistant. As for the size, the general rule is to get a fanny pack that would fit your gun piece. In that case, do consider getting universal-sized law enforcement fanny packs because they fit most weapons. Whether you change your gun from time to time or not, you won’t have to worry because your fanny pack will still be able to fit your weapon.
